There Is Room for You Too

Have you ever backed off from a dream or passion because of the whispers that there was no room for you? Have you ever quieted the desire to pursue what you love because you saw others doing that same thing and felt there was no way what you had to offer could compare? If so, now is the time to silence those lies and see what the God who created you, and everything about you, has in store.

There’s room for you too.

If there is anything God has shown me over these last three and a half years that I have (finally) been getting out with my poetry, it’s that there is room for me (and you!) too. For years I kept my poetry to myself, and even stopped writing for a time, because I bought into the lies that there wasn’t room for me. I bought into the intimidation of how all the “others” who were already out with their poetry or pursuing spoken word were somehow better or more qualified than me simply because they were already doing it. Poetry could never be “my thing” because it was already “their thing.” As I’m sure I will share in more detail at some point in a future blog, in the spring of 2017 God began to take me on an incredible journey of breaking off those lies and unleashing the passions and gifts inside of me for writing, poetry, ministry, and so much more (okay, really that whole process began in the fall of 2016, but the poetry part came in the Spring of 2017, but no worries- I’ll get to that too).

Believing and walking in the truth that there is room for you too can take time to develop. Maybe you believe there is room for you, but fear and intimidation keep you from actually walking in that. As I continue to grow in my own boldness and confidence and take another step on that journey by pursuing this site and this blog (something I have wanted and sat on for quite some time), I pray you would also grow in the boldness and confidence to walk in the gifts and calling that God has placed on you. I pray that you would know that your gifts, talents, and passions serve a purpose. I pray that as you surrender those things to the One who instilled them in you and begin to see his plan and his will for them, you will be filled with a new fire, drive and clarity on what to do next. I pray that as you surrender your gifts to the God who gave them to you, that he would open doors and opportunities to you that you could never fathom or open on your own. He is a good God, and would not fill you with gifts and talents just to watch them sit.

I pray that as you seek him more today, he would break off every lie and chain that has held you back, and show you that there is room for you too.

“A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before the great.”
Proverbs 18:16
